Where to buy wheels?
« on: 19 March 2012, 21:39 »
Not loving the 17s on our gtd, where is the best place to pick up a set of 18" monza's???? Looked at eBay and seen some copies but not sure who does decent copies. I don't want a set off soft heavy fakes that buckle when you look at a pot hole and weigh a ton!!!

Thanks for looking

Open to suggestions for nice 18s on a gtd too!!

E-bay for me too

Setup an E-bay search (or two) and save it with an e-mail alert ... then be patient ... and be prepared to travel to pick up a good looking set.

I've always managed to find decent sets this way.

You could also try a wanted on here too

Personally, I prefer Vancouvers on a GTD.

There's a set on here for sale in a thread in this Mk6 section.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

+1 don't go down the copy route, its just not worth it...from my own experience ebay has had a few sets of gen monza's recently so keep your eyes peeled and be patient!

I payed £650 for a set of new gen monza shadow 2s then paid another £480 to get them wrapped in Goodyear Asymmetric 2 rubber but that was from a below forum member, I was just lucky!!

Also keep an eye on the MK6 Bargain section as I've got a thread going and regularly post what I find on ebay...

Ahhh you've got Goodyears on them, jealous lol, don't rate these Bridgestones whatsoever, last 3 sets were the previous gen Asymmetrics on my A3 and they were top but gotta wait for these to wear down, can't justify replacing them ££££

Yeah, I asked on here for some advice first tho and then went for the plunge...kwikfit quoted me £650 at first but got them down to £500
But on the off chance I phoned my old Suzuki dealer who did it for the £480....as much as I trusted them tho I took pics before letting them loose on them and also made them aware of the cost if they marked them in anyway....so they were very careful!
