Covering my mk2

Hi everyone firstly I thought I'd say hello as this is my first post! I've had a few gti's over the years but have recently purchased an 8v mk2 in fantastic condition! I'm very happy, I'm planning on getting it into a lock up in the autumn but was wondering what you guys thought about covering during spring/summer? I'm using it a couple of times a week, is it worth getting a cover for it? And if so is there anything in particular I should get?

Hi & Welcome....

I wouldn't use a cover... But If I was It would have the be a very good quality one that is breathable...

But Who want's to hide a MK2!!!

As X4MGS says, it has to be breathable if you're going to get one, this will prevent moisture being trapped under it and making it worse off...  I felt I had no choice to get one for mine as it lives outside at the moment and sadly has a couple of leaks.

Believe it or not, Halfrauds do a decent one that fit's MK1s and 2s very well for around £50.

It's the small size.

I'd be more worried about the rainy season rather than the few sunny days we get!!

I have to say that I'd never fit one after a m8 of mine fitted one to his S2 and with the windy season all it did was scratch the car and rub off the paint from his mirrors....

These covers are spot on. I've got the Sahara indoor cover as I'm lucky enough to be able to keep it garaged.

As I said earlier, it's a Halfrauds breathable cover, Size "Small Car".  Had mine for over a year now with no issues.   They only do these or sh!tty plastic nasty ones so don't get the latter.

Oh, gone up since I bought mine.

That's bad... WTF was the cover made out of!? Either it was a cr@p cover or there was dirt inside.

Not had an issue with this one, it's soft touch material inside, bit like micro fibre.  Elasticated bottom with adjustable underbody straps so movement is minimal... Only way I can see this cover scratching a car is if I put it on a car that was dirty/gritty.
