Pirelli v ed30
« on: 18 March 2012, 19:15 »
I'm still hunting for my mk5 and am considering one of these special editions. Can anyone tell me if the Pirelli has the ko4 turbo unit? And any thoughts on which is the better car? As far as I can see they're only different cosmetically, but the Pirelli seems to be more expensive.

Many thanks in advance.

I have a pirelli and love it . ED30 looks good but there are a few about,   the pirelli is a bit rare( only 222 in uk)had a few people ask me about it as they had never heard of the gti pirelli. A lot of people dont like the seat finish in the pirelli an acquired taste. My pirelli is  diamond black , dsg with a few extras, plus the pirelli comes with privacy glass edition 30 didnt. There are a few pirellis for sale out there but seller asking crazy money, ed 30 probably better value. Both models have same 227 bhp , quick car.Whatever you choose , enjoy , great car.

Essentially both cars are the same, they share the same engine and bodykit etc. it really comes down to personal taste which you prefer, I didn't like seats when I first saw a Pirelli, but now I have mine I love them. The Pirelli is the true limited edition as they only sold 222 into the UK so in my opinion they will hold there money slightly better than the Eddy but only just. As has been said previously not many know about the Pirelli so they are always a good talking point, my local VW dealership had never seen one and they all came out to see it. Take a look at both and make up your own mind, they only made the Pirelli in black, silver and graphite blue.
Good luck with whatever you decide on as you won't be disappointed with either.

Pirelli will usually be slightly more expensive as they were produced after the Edition 30 (Think they were the last special edition MK5 Made)

The are only more expensive because they were the run out model and Newer then most ed30's.

all depends on spec as to it's worth to an enthusiast.A good spec car and someone that knows what they are buying will offer good money.
