I thought that when I bought my new car.  Don't get me wrong, it was lovely owning a new car.  In hindsight though, one of my biggest ever mistakes.

I bought a C2 VTS new many moons ago.  Seemed a good idea at the time, we had a 12k budget and it was a lot better than the Mini we tried.  Few months later, the £253 a month payments were becoming a killer.  Sold the car two and a half years later for £5,500, so lost over 50% of the car's value.

Never again.

Theres where you went wrong, a friend of mine is currently waiting for a new Polo GTI, he's trading in a 2 year old Polo SE 1.4 he paid 12 grand for and the dealer is giving him £8500 for it with ~27000 miles on, not bad really.

Your always going to lose on buying a new car but imo if you buy the right car it doesn't hurt as much.
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

Yep! i dont think anyones under the illusion their car will not devalue heavily, i always look at it that it will be worthless in 3 years time when the finance is over, then anything that comes back is a bonus.

Could have been worse Bobbarley, you could have plumped for the new DS3 Racing which can go upwards of £24k if spec'd correctly (or wrongly I suppose).

My Uncle had one of these. Got his money back after 12 months of it having constant ECU and boost issues.
