Help on engine light please guys

Hi people just another problem again with the golf it's a aum 2001 gti turbo and my engine light poped up this morning so I plugged vag com in and it's telling me p0012 camshaft a over retarded or some thing like I reset the light and the car runs fine no rattles or taps bangs nothing any ideas any please it's doing my head in. How do I do the readings on vagcom to check the chain tensioner
