My take on it was:
Ãƒâ€šÃ‚                         'A bloke who is helping his son go racing and is obviously exited and proud of what they are doing .and so wants to share his experience and other peoples thoughts on the subject'.

If one of you had kids doing a similar thing wouldn't you want to tell us about it , wouldn't you? I know I would have but not sure wether I would now  with the reaction  :undecided:
There was a fair bit of chat after the santa pod meet and it wasn't all about how good the cars looked ( AND THEY DID LOOK V GOOD)

Maybe he was a bit impatient for responses but give him a chance hes obviously an enthusiast like us.

Or is it that he is just like ME too old and out of touch to be COOL?

Good luck to him & his son in his championship and posting the info on the various GTI forums, its a shame he had no response, but his last two posts were childish, pointless and out of order. If he doesn't delete his forum membership from the forum, ban him anyway.

Yeah sure i am interested. However i have more things to do that masterbate furiously over a couple of cars going round and round a track, i usually go to brands a couple of times a year and watch the BTCC, no VWs involved in that.

Good on him if his kid is involved and yes he has every right to be proud and post on here telling us about it, but to expect all of us to drop eveything and metaphorically suck him off is bit of a piss take tbh.

He reminds me of one of those dancing flowers that just keeps going off to get some attention,

"alright mate yes well done your kid done, good now f**k off and stop trying to fist me with your bollox about me being a "barry" just because i enjoy working on the car rather than watch someone else drive round and round the track for a while"

TBH - it's all a load of hypocritical bull, if i had to make my decision as to whether i am a "hardcore enthusiast" or not, then i guess my day of tacking the old girl up the santa pod strip means i am no more than prissy little "trick paint job" enthusiast.

Oh no, how ever am i going to sleep now.

Get out more mate, go and get your balls sucked by your misses, and then come back when you have something relatively intelligent to say.

TBH.

I read all the posts made last night and visited the websites have to say it seems to me rather too soon after 2 days or so to be berating people for their apparent lack of interest ,Everyone wants different things out of their membership of this site some members never get involved with the forum beyond asking for specific help issues with their vw's and i presume not everyone is into motorsport or has the spare time to become more involved. most people have specific interests if they are into motorsport anyway.I prefer rally but you see very few vw doing the rounds nowadays,i wish Fred flintstone+ barney rubble well in the quest for fame and glory...

Tbh...meh is a bad thing.... :undecided:

You do have a good point VENTO GTI EDITION ... he just went about it very badly, a post in "new members" may have brought more interest.

Some posts take days to get read, especially in the quieter sections of the forum like motorsport .. so to insult the other 4697 just because noone saw his posts, is not the best way to make friends and influence people. Might have been understandable if someone had made a tw@tty reply to his posts.

I'm sure some people are interested, maybe he'll stick around and try again without getting everyones backs up

I'm sorry if I was a bit to quick of the mark , I certainly do not wish insult anyone here at all!. I'm realatively new to this malarky and was not that aware that some sections are less read than others :embarassed:

But I have to say that some of you seem to have been a bit on the 'SPIKY' side with you responses ! CHILL OUT DUDES!!!!  :grin:

I am guessing i am one of the "Spikey" replies.

I don't go out of my way to make these comments its just how i view things, there is no point what-so-ever in pussy around and pretending to be all sympathetic when to be quite honest i'm not.

He made a stupid comment and generally acted like a complete twat because we didn't all get out rocks off because of something he and his son have achieved. He has every right to be excited and proud and yes he is welcome to wallow in it.

To expect the same response from over 4000 other members is just A) unrealistic and B) pointless in getting worked up over.

What he needs to realise is that people have their own minds and likes/dislikes, for some people the golf is all about show and being looked after for others its all about what it can do on track. A MAJORITY have an interest in how it all works, including the scene, the mechanics, the track, the looks. No one person is going to change someone else's opinion on that.

As for the whole age thing. What a load of bollox that is, i have met people up to the age of 50+ in this scene and have got on with them better than someone the age of 21 so age has no reflection on how we view each other.

I am not being cagey, but just tell things how they are, i am not out to impress anyone, you either accept how it is,or move on and delude yourself even more.

I think what you can gather from this is that yes people do care, but we also have our own interestes and if this doesn't coincide with his then i am not going to lose any sleep from it. I keep my car as close to vag standard as possible with the obvious un-noticable touches, (engine mods, suspension set up, internal sounds system) then again this might not be someone elses cup of tea, it doesn't mean i am going to break down and have a hissy fit just because someone has some other thing that they would view to be "better"

I know what i like and unfortunately track doesn't feature particularily feature very high on it, mostly because i have my own problems to deal with my own car. Problems which i enjoy working on, more so than watching someone else drive in continuous circuits. It's just not my thing.

If he really feels the need to bash this place and the people that inhabit it, then so be it. I know i won't loose my mind, or think "OMG OMG he thinks i am trick paint job barry" f**k him, thats his opinion, fact is i couldn't really give a stuff what someone else thinks if it makes me happy then i am going to do it.

Life is too short.
