Front washers not working
« on: 13 March 2012, 16:30 »
Hey all,

Right basically the washers will not work. They only work sometimes when the wipers are on full speed therefore they are not blocked. Iv checked the fuse and relays there all fine. When I pull the stick back it also doesn't engage the wipers. What could this be?

Probably faulty stalks.

Can you hear the motor pump buzzing every time you pull back the stalk, on every wiper stalk position?

Find a scrappy nick one off a MK3 (it on the body of the water resivour) I did! Just pull it out and just incase cut the power plug if its different from yours so you can splice it up if need be!

I will have to check, but im pretty sure nothing is happening unless its on the final position then it kinda squirts on and off.

I meant pump NOT STALK fella!
Its a plug into type its a pump if yours is on its way out or clogged up it can sometimes come on and off, I thought try a old pump of a Mk3 and plug it into your water tank wire it up job done. If not then take on the stalk by taking stalk off the steering column and clean it up, remove any dirty grease over the years you might be lucky?

If it was the pump would it not spray on and off in all positions not just the fastest?

so it does spray trickle or full force?

If it sprays full force strip down the stalk clean it up otherwise start looking for one I'm sure GSF should do a replacement?

Disconnect the water tubes from the pump and then test.  If the pump works then its a fault with your stalks.
