Just brought a quad light grill and the badge needs repainting,not sure silver or black what is the most orriginal for a 1990 16v in oak green?

Have black but always had silver previously, not had chance to change it yet
I feel the black one just fades into the bumper, where as the silver one you see gleaming coming towards you

Iirc, VW dumped the chrome emblems around 83/84 replacing them with lower key satin black items, even early cars ended up with the black items, why? well it was all thanks to these boys
