extremely worried about this. am looking into legalities and other detailing options such as Optimal No Rinse.

standby.

Used ONR twice now to get an understanding of it.
Works well with a premix soak.
Turns the micro fibre noodle mitt I use black!  :nerd:

Not so good on a car with salt / sand tho.

... it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.

yes... I can understand that it might cause some marring if there is heavy soiling

I also don't know the cost implications of using this on a bulk basis  :undecided:

Water butts on every down pipe mate!

Don't you have a water tank for your van?

surley this part covers you & allows you to continue working

Exemptions-using a hosepipe to clean a private motor
vehicle, or walls and windows of domestic
premises, where this is done as a service to
customers in the course of a business.

According to some woman who represents the UK water authority / representative body on the Jeremy Vine show this afternoon - tuned in half way through didn't get her name- from her research nobody has ever been prosecuted / fined for breaking a hosepipe ban, ever.

"Under previous hosepipe and sprinkler bans the use of watering cans, buckets and other water carrying devices has been perfectly acceptable for watering the garden, or for instance washing your car. During a ban you should always check with your local water company to see the specific rules they have in place of course.

It has also been generally accepted by the water companies in the past that a short piece of hose connected to a tap can be used to fill the watering can/bucket. Hence you’re actually using a hosepipe during a hosepipe ban!

The whole point of banning hosepipes and sprinklers is that they will tend to be left on for long periods of time and use up large amounts of water. Forcing you to use a watering can or bucket reduces the risk of using too much water."

At work, in the department I work in we have Radio 2 on all day. This morning the where talking about this and mentioned that one man ran a hopepipe from his bath, out the window to water the plants. A passer by saw this and complained and the got charged, but I think he appealed and got on. Something like that.

Did anybody got to autosport show this year?  There was a guy there with a original Fiat 500 and he was selling this hose that had a valve in it that would allow you to wash the car using a hose connected to a bucket.

thats what I thought

i was also surprised that the use of a watering system for gardens with a timer and drippers is also allowed... my vegetables will be delighted.

i do use a tank in my van but obviously it has to be filled somehow... I will be investing in a water butt/s and filters to help reduce the impact on the environment
