Garage 8'4" x 16'9" (5.11m x 2.54m) ??

A garage this size, is this workable?

Would be working on a golf mk4

Would you settle for this?

depends what your going to be doing, go out measure a 8ft4 x16ft9 square on the floor, park your car in it, imagine all your tool box's/trollies ect in there, and see if you think you have enough room.

only you can be the judge, if its just general work ide say yes, if your wanting to fully rebuild the car then possibly not as your only going to have a foot or so each side of the golf. and maybe a metre at the front and the back.

Yes. I wouldn't use that space for anything bigger though.

BTW those measurements i gave are just an estimate, as i said ide measure out a square on the floor, park the car in  it, see how much space you have, only you can judge if you think you can work in it, you could be like me and enjoy sprawing out all over the place or you could be like my ex's dad who built a whole car in a garage with proberbly a foot space at the left/right/front/back

measured it out, leaves 16 inches either side, which isn't enough really to put my jack in and start lifting

the handle itself is 2 ft long

barely bigger than a single supermarket parking space..

if its a council garage they'd take it off you if they caught you working on a car in it anyway

Its hard to say, if you can build bigger go for it, if its what the property allows you to have, then it will be more than enough and you will learn to work round it as it seems a bit tiny. But this depends what work you are doing, I was in a similar garage to this round a friends house in size, his was twice the length but jammed with crap. However what I did was to create more front or rear room for when working on the car I would either drive half the front/back into the garage or push it in that much. This kept the elements at bay whilst working on the car and still left me with plenty of room to work on that particular side. Yes it would of been better if you could shut the garage door, but beggars can't be choosers. Also it throws the idea of working on the side of the car completely out the windows, I had to drive the car back out to undo things like the arch guards on the front wheels on a mk4 for taking the bumper off as there's just not enough room on either side.
