distributor is stuck!
« on: 11 March 2012, 22:05 »
I replaced it yesterday, but messed up my timing! Now when i try to remove it,  it barely budges!

Any ideas, how to take it out?

Thanx in advance

You should be able to tap it from side to side until it's loose and then reposition as necessary.  It's only 'shoved in the hole' so to speak, so it should just come out if the adjustment bit has been removed.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

i gave it good wiggle, to try and loosen it but, still nothing. Even tried to spray WD40 to loosen it too, it actually feels like its stuck!

Does it rotate when you turn the engine over?  BY HAND. Are the gears meshing?
Does it sit square in the hole? Has it gone in on the p!ss

Its defo the right dizzy, my dub is a mk2 8v with a 2.0l botom end conversion, and i purchased it off someone on.  Here, who also had it on an 8v with a 2.0 bottom.

An almost new dizzy with a 1000 miles on it.

It does rotate, i wouldnt say freely when done by hand. To be honest i have checked if its rotating whilst i turn the engine over!

Not sure what's going on there chap, it should be a tight fit but not unmovable. Slotted in and pulled out with ease on my 2E block.

You are putting this in a 2E/AGG block aren't you?

Yup!

When i put it in, it was ok, but, the next day when i tried to remove it (because i messed up my timing  :embarassed:) i couldnt.  like i said it doesnt rotate when i turn the engine over, and it wiggles very slightly.
