Broadband without a landline...
« on: 11 March 2012, 21:50 »

Any recommendations? We are moving on tuesday and currently have sky, but i just think it's a waste as we never use the landline, we only ever get nuisance calls on it. Anyone who wants / needs us just uses the mobiles.

You have to either have:

1) Virgin cable/Fibre - pretty sure you don't need a land line as part of your package
2) Get a landline, cheapest package going see if your ISP can bundle it in. Then never plug a landline phone in

Virgins traffic management makes my 20Mb connection next to useless, whenever I actually want to download something, I get rate limited to death.

If only ADSL wasn't 4Mb indicative where I live!

Why not mobile network based broadband?

Fair point, my mother has a 3G router and it works. most of the time. It can be laggy depending on what you want to do and how many people are using it and some services such as iplayer on SmartTV's won't show the HD content because it detects you're on a mobile connection and it's expensive per GB if you download or stream a lot.
