Did you take of the turbo inlet pipe or the downpipe to the exhaust to put on the little blanking plate thingy? You are meant to remove the down pipe right? Then pour in through the manifold where the pipe goes up to the EGR right?

A bent rod sounds nasty  :lipsrsealed: I don't even know how that could have happened or what that means  :lipsrsealed:

I took off the inlet pipe - the big plastic one down the back off block. Re reading the instructions though it says to remove the outlet pipe and my mechanic friend has said all the carbon / gack tends to gather on the out.

bent rod would mean one of the cylinders isn't getting all the compression it should, but then the more I think about it if 1 cylinder had low compression it would always be a problem? not just on startup from cold?

Sure Steve will enlighten a bit when he can get online...

Yes you remove the exhaust downpipe from the turbo, block up the hole and then fill the turbo up with the cleaner

Let's hope its not as serious as you think

I've heard you can get similar results from foaming oven cleaner? Anyone tried that before. As at a fraction of the price seems a good idea.

Well done about 60 miles so far today.

Worst part is it's still going into Limp mode, so if it survives, I'm gonna have to try again!

Apparently its better as it foams; Neil (old_No7) took some pictures of his Innotec turbo clean.  The one biggest problem is that it all sits at the bottom of the turbo rather than being worked around  :undecided:

Doesn't mr Muscle foam up?

What about something like the ambersil stuff? I AM NOT RECOMMENDING THIS IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM.

You put it in the wrong side  As your friend said the vain actuators are on the exhaust side and clog up with soot so they don't operate correctly resulting in over boost. The cleaner dissolves the soot allowing the gains to operate.

I agree with you that if you had a bent rod it would affect it all the time not just on start up.

What happens when you start the car after its already warmed up? Does it start fine?
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...
