Mk4 1.8T AUM stage 1 remap question
« on: 09 March 2012, 16:17 »
Hi

I've recently got a  MK4 1.8t 150bhp with the AUM engine. Am I right in saying this has the K03s turbo and a stage 1 remap will see 200bhp?

If so, will it be ok to run the standard clutch set up with 200bhp? Ive got a receipt for a new clutch fitted less than a year ago so it'd be a shame to ruin it so soon if it cant handle the extra power.

Also, I'm planning on upgrading to a fmcl007p  diverter valve. Is this a direct replacement, so exactly the same size as the stock one etc?

Thanks

Yeah mate thats correct. I've got the same engine, at R-Tech it made 210bhp, 228ft/lb. I believe my clutch to be original (car has now done 65,500 miles) and its been fine for the last 3 months no slipping or anything, the bite is not getting high ect.

Your best off getting a forge 007p and a pipercross panel filter before you go. The 007p is a direct swap for the plastic bosch one.

dont change clutch etc until actualy goes or is going too .. mine is on way out now.. but its the original clutch on the car and had it mapped 3 years ago and was fine all that time till now so not like a remap will kill it straight away.. all down to how u drive too

Cheers for the replies. Yeh I'm going to get the forge dv soon anyway just so I don't have to worry about the plastic one breaking. Does it fit under the standard engine cover?

I'm really tempted to get the remap and my clutch is less than a year old so should last a while if driven carefully, that's good going if yours lasted 3 years.

If you start launching off the line everytime you get to a set of traffic lights. Or go to Santa Pod every week then it won't last long. If you boot it from a rolling start and at speed it will last a lot longer.

I've got R-Tech stage 1 custom, it was £250.
