glow plug lamp
« on: 07 March 2012, 15:35 »
Hi guys I have a tdi pd 150 and my glow plug light on the dash only stays on for a second or 2 (i can hear them warming during this time). So if I try to start first thing in the morning it takes a while to start, if I turn on the ignition 2 or 3 times to heat up the plugs it starts fine, when its warm it starts fine on the button.

my question is, is it suppose to heat the plugs for a second or should it be longer? do I need a new heater relay?

Thanks

It depends on how cold it is. If its cold it will take longer. Also the age of them makes a difference, if they are old and well used then it may take longer for them to get up to temp...I think.

I think you can check your glowplugs see how old/well they are functioning with a multi meter, like a resistance test or some lecci sh!t. The Haynes manual mentions it...
