HELP

[VW basser]

This is my engine - warning, its not pretty.

As you can tell, that whining and ticking noise shouldnt be there, i know the ticking noise is the tappets, however for the life of me i cant figure out the whining noise,
Weve had the power steering belt off and started it - still there
Weve changed the cambelt and water pump - still there
Gave it a service for good measure - still there.
Any ideas lads? engines arent my forte'.
