Right guys,

Guna need some help here.

By no means a mechanic, but had a little experience with engine building, although very minor I'll admit.

Never converted a car from EFI to Carbs, but quite fancy owning a motor running on carbs, given I'm a 70's child, and grew up with 80's carbed motors, but was a little too young to own one, but can vividly remember the noise and smell.  Oh the days...

I'll take loads of pictures as progress is made, but am currently looking for any help on what is needed for a successful conversion.

Here's what I have already:-

Bare engine (Rather tuned internally ), it's a 2e 2l tall block, with a G60 head, running Kent Cams, brass valves, Mahle pistons, short sump etc etc)
Pair of twin forties (Carbed down to 32's)
Manifold for VW 8v (already fitted, I couldn't wait to see how it looked )
Just ordered a new water pump
Assuming I need some form of ignition system via a dizzy system?
Looking for a lightweight flywheel (Thgough been warned of tick over issues)
Looking at a racing clutch (any advice would be great)
Assuming I need some form of fuel pressure regulator (again any help appreciated)
Wiring (Any help again)

Oh yeh the kit is going into a MK1 GTI.  The engine should be running around 190 BHP at the crank, so maybe I need to review the box I'm going to fit given the torque range??

Cheers guys for any feedback/advice
Mark

What kind of power should I expect then going off your previous comment?

Need to do some serious head work to get close to 190BHP, as in bigger valves with big lift. Carbs would be restricting as well, ITBs are really what is needed to maximise the output. Mappable ignition holds great advantages. But i understand you want carbs, I'm the same
