Banded steelies
« on: 05 March 2012, 18:03 »
Was looking at getting 16" banded steelies on my mk4 gti. Does anywhere know any place near fife or Edinburgh that will make banded steelies or roughly how much it would be

It's standard the now but will be putting coilovers on it the end of the year. Might be better to try and get 18's

Hard ... i've looked haha. And by the time you have bought 4 18' steel wheels, Spares for newer VW/audi 4x4s i think. And they paid someone to band them. Your looking at about 500quid by which point you could have some very lovely wheels!

I think 'don't look nice' is something of a subjective comment - I think your wheels look utterly gash, but that's my subjective opinion on your Golf3's wheels.

If you want to do it then do it - it's your dime.  Just make sure you get it done professionally by someone with liability insurance for doing that job.

And tell your insurer, too.

I don't quite understand the concept of 18" banded steels being 'better' than 16" as they'll weigh a sh*twad more and the car will handle far worse because of it.... but then you were talking about coilovers, so I guess handling's not on your agenda.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
