Bluetooth help needed please
« on: 03 March 2012, 20:25 »
Today I followed the excellent guide on here, and fitted my OEM bluetooth kit.

I've managed to code it and got all the functions on the RCD510 and MFSW to work as they should, but no one can hear me. When in the Phone Menu of the RCD510, I press "Extras" and at the top of the list it that comes up, it says "Microphone off". Can anyone please help me turn the "Microphone on"?

Pull the mic connector apart and switch it the other way round.

Which one Steve? At the radio or the mic end?

Could someone with an RCD510 and factory Bluetooth, please pop their radio out and take a picture of the plug into the back of it please?

Here's a link of the manual I have

Lookup on page 6 of the manual. It shows wiring configuration you need to have for RCD 510. In summary the mic needs to be connected direct to bluetooth module.

Thank you skander. Top man.

That's just what I needed. Now why couldn't the dealers tell me that?

Hmmmmm, still not quite there yet.

Can anyone who sells, fits or had fitted OEM bluetooth, is the patch/piggyback loom a factory part, or is it made up like an aftermarket one? The reason I ask is that TPS have sent me the ETKA picture of the factory fitted mic and it seems to be part of the main loom that goes to the roof console to power the interior lights, sunroof, alarm ultrasonics etc. In the kit that I have, the mic is separate to the rest of the cars original wiring and is part of the patch loom.

Again just what Darren tells me, VW don't sell the looms they have to be made.

Nearly there.

Thanks to everyone who has given some input so far. It seems that the mic has to be plugged directly into the module. the multi plug into the module has some spare terminals. No's 6,7,10,13,14,15 and 16. There will be a special prize for the first person to come along and tell me the correct terminals for me to connect the mic into.
