Fault codes ?
« on: 01 March 2012, 21:18 »
couldn't find the fault in my book or on rosstech but was in garage section on here

17968 P1560 Maximum Engine Speed Exceeded ??? i didn't even get over 30mph before it came up stop coolant warning opened bonnet and it was boiling the water, was driving maybe 15mins at most, car felt weird as it wasn't heating up inside, then all of a sudden the warning came on.

17840 Possible Causes
Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve (N112) faulty
Secondary Air Pump Relay (J299) faulty
Possible Solutions
Check Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve (N112)
Check Secondary Air Pump Relay (J299)

i've removed my 112 valve and replaced with resistor could resistor be dead or is it more likely to be relay? and where is it? would any of these cause the water to boil? and car overheat? cheers

See if water is being circulated back into the tank with the engine running / Remove the top hose and it should have water coming through

You need to remove the cam belt so if its old will be worth replacing the belt and tensioners too.

Clear the codes and see if any return as they may be old faults that have been fixed

water pump and belt changed a few month after i got the car a year ago, although everything that guy did to my car so far has broke or been replaced and i'm not sure if he even changed to be honest,i've started using a different garage now and hes really good but a bit more expensive than others but really knows his stuff and is well in to tuning cars,he wants to get into remapping vw's as he already does a lot of jap crap,i'll phone him in morning see if he can hook it up to proper vagcom

i had some water coming back through the return pipe but not alot turned out to be the waterpump starting to break up
does it only over heat while driving
