Well, I never said it was manly, I personally would never own one over a tin top but I think it looks good.  What else could they really do to make it work.  I think it looks as good as it can get considering what it is.

As far as making someone sick to look at it, bit over the top.

Yeah, but what does it look like with the roof up - that's always the issue with hatches that get chopped.

Roof up on a less kitted up version

Not bad, but still prefer the tin top.

I still cannot see the point of it, slower, heavier and no doubt worse handling than the tin top.

They did it with a mk1 and they were very popular.. The point of it is so that people that like to have wind in their hair at similar speeds and handling of the tin top, they can.

You could argue what the point of a MK3 GTI 8v was and that was a tin top!?

Mk1 is a whole different ballgame but cabrio's never make sense to me, factor in the British weather as well.

Insurance reasons, at the end of the day they did the same with the mk2 Driver (GTI looks with a 1.6) and the mk4 2.0

Forget the MK2 Driver, doesn't count.  The mk4 2.0 however does join in on the pointless GTI debate though.

I'm not sure how a cabrio doesn't make sense but obviously not everybody likes them... I had a p155 poor 1.5 mk1 cabby and it was amazing to drive just because it had no roof.   It's just a different experience.

As far as British weather goes, who gives a hoot, people still buy them and i'm sure the cabrio in question is for a far wider audience than just the UK.

What's wrong with the British weather? It's been a warm winter in relative terms and we're about to enter a drought
