PD130?
« on: 29 February 2012, 12:53 »
Buying myself a new car next month and have been thinking BMW 1 series coupe or Audi A3 170 but i keep coming back to look at Mk4's!

I'm basically after a load of reviews from the PD130, running issues, faults, MPG, running costs etc...

I could go for the BMW or Audi but i love the mk4 and it'll be half the price!

I've run a pd130 for two years now. Cant fault it. Had a R-Tech remap on it about a year ago and it made the car awesome.

i use it as daily driver and commute 70 mile round trip a day in it. get 55mpg out of it doing 80ish.

The only problems ive had with it was the intercooler pipes leaked due to just wear and tear. replaced all of them now for about £200. and had to fit new clutch/flywheel due to extra power. done 125k now and runs nicely.

i dont think you would regret getting one, still look nice and drive as well as a 1 series would.

Very good cars. As mentioned the clutch will need replacing if you are thinking of more power.

Your looking at about £72 ish for a full tank of V power and you should easily see 500+ from that.

Get one.

I have 1 too, great car no complaints. Had it about a yr sailed through first mot no probs. mine runs great and return well over 50 mpg most weeks. Cost half as much to run as my mk3 gti and 20vt cupra but still has the power for when I need it.
Great car IMO

i recently had a 3 day test drive in one of the new 120 diesel m sports and hated it.Horrible driving position and could never get comfy in the seats. Its driving that car that made my mind up to go back to a mark 4.

Whats your budget??

Id be looking at MK5 or A3's or even a Leon as they will offer a significant upgrade in terms of handling and even drivability.  The 140 engine is a cracking bit of kit
