Hi,
I am a new member to this forum. I also don't know to much about engines
and i am very confused about what is causing the problem to my 1996 Golf GTi 2 litre 8V.
I have had a lot of differing opinions on what it could be.
I was wondering if someone on here could help. I know i could take it to the main stealer but that may turn out expensive.
My problem happens randomly and only when started from cold. If i drive off and then decelerate to come to a stop the revs will not hold and the engine cuts out. Once the engine is fully warm it will be fine. It is an intermittent problem but a scary one as the brakes and steering go. I nearly crashed into someone a while back.
I had the car serviced last november and i had the cambelt, alternator and sterring belts changed. The engine recently has been feeling very rough for some reason as well. Very lumpy, you can feel it come through the peddles and steering wheel. The engine is also sounding rough as well.
Can someone shed some light on what to check, clean or replace.
thanks.
