I don't like EA.

But I love Mass Effect.

It's a shame really, but part of me wonders if it's really as one sided as Game are making out. The reason being I don't see shops like Game and Gamestation lasting much longer. The internet is usually much cheaper for buying games and even stores such as Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's are competitive with their prices for games. I've also found Asda much better for trade in prices (once they offered me a full £10 more for a game than Game did - that's a bit of a difference).

I can understand that EA aren't particularly prone to playing ball (only need to ask why Porsche aren't in Forza 4 ), and their decision regarding online passes is at best frustrating (at worst downright snide), but I think part of the decision in this letter is Game's responsibility.

Perhaps EA are secretly the Reapers

Looks more likely that it's Game that's fallen short of the agreement. It'll be sad if the stores go under but I can't say I'll be surprised.

I think Game (and gamestation who are the same company) are having a proper cash flow problem at the moment which is why they can't get good credit with the EA distributor. Sad to say but I wouldn't bet on them being in Administration before Easter. Better spend my £20 Game voucher asap!!!!

This.

..."Eurogamer has heard from multiple UK industry sources that the specialist video game retailer has lost credit insurance with a number of agencies.

This means that publishers are now forced to take the risk on games that do not sell - something they do not wish to do.
GAME is now being asked to pay for new stock with cash. If GAME doesn't have the cash, it could result in the shop being unable to stock new games.

Eurogamer was told by one UK publishing source: "The trouble they [GAME] are in is with all publishers and not just a select few and it's not a case of publishers not supplying them with stock, without insurance they would have to pay for stock up front which is proving difficult for them."
