How do you get motivated?
« on: 27 February 2012, 18:20 »
My car is in about a million pieces, how do you all get motivated to do anything on the car? I open up the garage look in and think 'f**k that'. So what do you do?

If you start buy putting a couple bits together, then some more and so one. Then you'll start to see it come together so motivation will build aswell as momentum

In all honesty, what helped me get motivated and keep it that way when I really needed it was this place.

Start a projects thread and also one in dub rides.

Post pics up of what the car is like now
List all the things that need doing
Pick one job at a time and post your progress (start with something simple)
People comment and spur you on
When you have finished a job and seen the results, it helps encourage you to get on to the next one.

Once you've been going a while like I have, you'll find people on here kicking your ass for slacking which is where I am at now.  It does remind you that you really should crack on again though.

I just built a really big garage to house all my projects!!

Got my mk2 16v Turbo over the pit, a mk2 8v on one side, an Impreza the other side, a camper van outside, motorcross bike, etc etc

Need a bigger garage again!

I feel like that everytime I go to do work on my Mk3 just now. Its difficult to get motivated when your half way through a build but like someone said already the build threads and the feedback you get makes it kind of worth while even though its just words. the prospect of taking it too meets and shows is also an incentive for me to pull my finger out and get things done. My problem is that I set a deadline of April so to get it on the road the full summer which i'm not going to make now. I've put so much time and money in it to stop now so just need to ignore my social life and my low bank balance and get on with it for the time being. I doubt I would have took it on to be honest knowing how much of a drain it was going to be but hey you can't dub if you have no dub!!
