yellow exchaust light

 :angry: hi just picked up my red gti and on the drive home the warning light for the exchaust came on. phoned the guy i get it from and he said was fine when he had it and it didnt come on when i test drived it.. any ideas?? :shocked:

did you trash it?    maybe the guy befor drove nice n you just moved all the sh!t lol.

You need vagcom really mate.

Yeah, can be anything from small tiny thigns to big major things. You need to plugged into a laptop and the fault code read from it find out whats wrong. Hope it all goes well and keep us updated.

 :angry: find a bloke at work who stuck it on a code reader came up something about running rich?? he's turned it off so will wait and see what happens :undecided:

If its running rich, its running rich. Resetting it will just cause it come back on again because its running rich. Have you got all the details of the error code that was read from it? Running rich is often a side effect of a problem with your O2 sensors, the MK5 has 2 of them from memory.

 :smiley:yer know what you saying :grin:,after reading more into this it tends to be cars with a stage 2 remap and a sports cat which suffer from this :cry:. mine has both so if and when it comes back on ill have to get it mapped out. the map was done at jabbasport but its miles away from where i live so ill have to find somewhere nearer and get them to look at it :smiley:
