Radiator leaking.
« on: 23 May 2005, 22:01 »
Iv'e got a leaking radiator.

Its not the hose but very close to the hose connection, I took the front grille off tonight just before I discovered this great site. This high pressure drip has been plauging me for over a week now.

Any comments welcome Im another newbie!.

I feel a German and Swedish coming very soon.

Cheers Gareth.

A quick but not guarenteed fix is to put a bottle of RADWELD in the radiator. ALthough this is not definately going to solve your problem.

Best option in my view would to be to source a old non leaky one from a scrappy, if not then a trip to an autofactors would work wonders. Cheap enough too.

In my opinion, never use Radweld in the system. Its 'orrible messy stuff that never goes away. Emergency use ONLY.

I'd get a new radiator for the cheap price of them as I reckon its one of the most important things to keep right on a car. Cant have it overheating can we!  :undecided:

You could try fix the leaky area, unless its the matrix itself

I had a leak from the top pipe area, turned out the hose hadn't seated right.  Have a fiddle with it before u replace the rad :)

Never use radweld, it blocked my heater matrix up good and proper!!

Its a leak, I took the front grille off to have a closer inspection.

Not the hose, I also swapped the hose round and changed the jubilee clips. Still piddling out. It a small bottle on every journey!.

I think Radweel is a big no-no!.

When these things go wrong they go wrong, big time. Its only got 70,000 on the clock.

Cheers Gareth
