Which Car Check Service to use?
« on: 26 February 2012, 21:03 »
Off to look at an Anni tomorrow but just thought I'd do the last little checks before I do i.e. check the car's history, but there are so many around charging all kinds of prices i.e. RAC, AA, HPICheck etc etc etc.

Is there any particular one that anybody would suggest to use. I was looking at icarcheck.net as that seemed to be pretty good at £9.99 for the full on package.

Thanks for this. Just checked it and it's all that came up was an advisory on the last MOT of…

"Nearside Rear Inner Road wheel with a slightly distorted beam rim (4.2.A.1a)"

Any ideas what that means?

Sorry, this now seems to have crossover in the forum post type?!

That previous advisory was in 2011 but then in 2012 no advisory was issued?

Think you mean a distorted bead rim?

Its a damaged road wheel.

Sorry, yes that's what I meant. Strange it doesn't appear in the next year's MOT - unless they swapped that one for the spare?!

Would you advise checking anything else i.e. HPI check etc?

May have used the spare or got a replacement wheel? Not sure if an Anniversary came with an Alloy spare?

I would do a proper HPI next - http://www.hpicheck.com/

Not cheap but well worth it, I did one when looking for a car for my girlfriend and came back as the wrong mileage and it was still under finance which the seller denied.
