Will my insurance go down at 21?
« on: 24 February 2012, 21:58 »
Currently paying £2700 on a 1.4 mk4 golf. I'm 20 from Manchester, just had a bump (which wasn't in with that price) and got 3 points for driving on my phone.

I understand sky and HIC can't give me an accurate quote but at a guess (with the bump included) however i'll be 21 come my next renewal, would you expect my premium to go up or down?

Thanks a lot

It's not that high to be honest, my 19 year old brother literally cannot get insured for less than £3000 on pretty much anything.

And does your phone still work after driving on it?

I think the main years when insurance drops is 21 and 25. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm 21, 6 points, 4 years no claims and pay less than £1k on brand new mk6 GTI.

I can't believe insurance quotes are £2000-3000 bloody hell! I've never paid more than £1300 a year on brand new cars since passing. I had a new A3 2.0 TDI Black Edition at 19.

Check comparison sites like, go compare, confused, moneysupermarket ect ect....I'm sure you can get it alot cheaper than your paying. Thats a ridiculous amount to pay for insurance!!

I'm 20 with no no claims bonus and a claim last year and the insurance on my mk3 2ltr 16v is £1300! Think it'll go down to about £900 in the summer. If mine went up to £2/2.5k I wouldn't have a car! Lol

only go down a small amount, 25 is the big drop, i pay 2 grand for my 1.8 driver a year, im 19 with one accident on record unfortunately, its more about how many yrs no claims you have nowdays than age.
