Brake fluid

Will be putting on some 312's in a couple of weeks, now I don't know when/if the brake fluid has ever been changed. Am I wrong in saying it wouldn't be a bad idea in bleeding the system and putting some fresh, better quality fluid in, and does the brake fluid reservoir feed the clutch to? What would I need to watch out for when doing this?

Yep clutch is feed from the reservoir.

sack that!! mine needs replacing but il be gettin the mrs to press the peddle for me lol  i disnt bo the clutch was done from the brake reservoir though :-s

Bleeding the brakes on a golf is a Nightmare. I'd rather do rear axle bushes.

Personally I would never do the two person method on a Golf, if you fully depress the pedal while doing it you stand a chance of flipping the seals in the master cylinder and then you need a new one.

That and the pressure bleeding method tends to give you a firmer pedal afterwards too, just make sure you bleed the two nipples under the fluid resevoir as this makes a load of difference to pedal feel

Under the brake fluid reservoir, as in the one where you fill it back up... Sounds like a fun place to try and get to!

Thanks for the help guys, I intend on buying an EZ bleed kit from halrauds but will have my bro helping so he could pump the pedal if need be! Going to try and find a proper proper good guide!
