I'm just waiting to hear back from the owner regarding the two references to "cam" in his receipts. From his receipt the line item read:

CAM unit price £191.40

And then he had a few other bits on there and then the final totals were:

Net    680.14
VAT   102.02
Total  782.16

Still looking at the total spent on servicing, parts etc since 2006 is £5,750 which sounds a lot to me, regardless of whether it's been serviced at VW dealers. In that space of time it's gone from 80,000 - 133,000 miles

That is a lot.

How the hell VW come up with £1,600 for cambelt and tensioner, brake discs and pads

My cam belt kit cost £240 thats inc water pump using genuine parts, Brake discs and pads should cost no more than £100.

Remember vw charge £85 an hour - and sometimes £70 just to diagnose a fault

I don't think he's mentioned every single thing on each invoice to get it up to that figure but just the main items. I wanted to make sure it's worth travelling 150 miles to see it before actually making the journey so I'm asking him a lot of questions.

Am not adding up what I spend on my car from 2007-present, but with tyres, servicing and replacement parts I can say its a dam sight more the 6k :lipsrsealed:
Thats without any mods.

I suppose I'm comparing it to how much I've spent on my current 98 Reg MK3 2.0 GTI which had 98,000 miles on the clock when I bought it in August 2008 and now has 114,000 today. So, in the space of 3.5 years I've only done 16,000 miles and spent £1,500 (after quickly adding up all of the invoices ;-)
