Its a tablet. If you dont need one dont get one . You made it clear you dont want it ages ago, why troll?

Screen resolution: 2048x1536 vs Samsungs offering with 1280x800

troll? wtf is asking the improvements over the current one trolling? You would expect the first thing a ipad3 thread to state is the improvements over the current one... oh yes hang on a minute there really arnt any

fyi no one is asking about the samsung... just whats better about this one than the one I currently have

Yeah, its not like the iPad has much info on it on google after all, and you clearly want one of course

Waste of time = ifad3

The processor is faster, the screen is better. What were you expecting exactly  :undecided:

google ipad3????... so I can come across a forum thread somewhere discussing the pro's and con's... no way!!!

seeing as there is nothing really wrong with the processor and screen originally, how about something a little more 'new' as opposed to 'improved'.

for what its worth I already have an ipad2 say on my desk gathering dust.. i simply asked the question whats the difference?

Didnt expect a respose like I just shot your cat... although I should have expected that from a fanboy

I completely disagree there as I believe it represents incredible business value, especially to your more higher-end industries like the airlines, banking and medicine.

'higher end' eh?  You mean industries with requirements that can be satsified in a line of business way where people want to review information far more than actually add to it?  No industry where large quantities of data need to be input, or manipulated will be able to have full-interface devices replaced with a tablet.

I've seen a lot of business turned down in recent times due to companies not providing the 'end-to-end' software package i.e. working on your stationary and mobile computers and devices.

As most business apps worth their salt don't work in client-server mode these days, but are browser-based this point is disingenuous at best, naive and ignorant at worst.  An app that works in a browser, in a cross-platform manner is really where any business application should be going, because it massively reduces the implementation and maintenance overheads.

Offering apps for this and apps for that is a totally proprietary market view and although terribly fashionable I would suggest it's a fad, whereas standards-based apps, addressable through a browser will provide a more robust and portable long-term solution.

Of course you need to ensure your app is portable and can be used on tablets and smartphones.  That's what responsive design should do for the front end interface of your application.  Holding the fondleslab up as a cure-all and 'the way forward' is utter tosh and illustrates a rather limited understanding of business solutions and the corporate environment.

I still maintain, it's a girl's toy and ideal for people I'd highlight as computer user, non technical.

The mobile workforce world is lapping them up, we're shifting more and more tablets and currently developing apps for iOS and Andriod so we can move our services off Windows Mobile 6. These guys do enter a reasonable amount of data and prefer the tablet over a little pda with a rubbish and small qwerty keyboard.

A fanboy that has no intention of getting one, and didnt buy the iPad 2, who also owns no other apple product than a phone. Sure

You already told us you never use your iPad and its for kids blah blah blah so when you asked whats the difference you were trolling, you asked so you could say 'its hardly any better.....i want something new' etc etc

Ill humour you, what 'new' thing did you want it to do?

You dont even need google, apple have done a decent job of comparing anyway
Even though you wont buy one, have a look

I asked the perfectly valid question of whats different in a Ipad 3 thread... no one told you that you were the only person that could answer the question. A simple
processor, screen and camera answer would have been sufficient. Think its clear to see to everyone that its not worth upgrading.

As for 'humour me'.... since when does asking me a question 'humour me'?

FYI it would have been nice if they

reduced the weight
reduced the bezel around the edges
came with a case
allowed you to prop it up without purchasing extras
moved the camera on the back so its actually central rather than off to one side
added a flash or light when using facetime
added a usb slot
added a memory card slot
had night vision
introduced a button to disable the screen
provide off the shelf office compatibility
provide support for printers
siri

does that 'humour' you? Oh no I forgot you dont actually own one do you

How can i own one? Im an apple fan boy though am i not?

You just described googles offering. Apple wont give you memory card slots or a usb slot (though you can buy micro usb adaptor cable for the charge point now for about £4) Camera location is probably to do with the internals, who knows. A light for Facetime, turn your house one on, works great! Yeah, give away a case, they should really do that or they wont sell any other wise.....or they will make a fortune by selling them separately, great business proposition - call em with that one! Night vision, are you kidding  Office capability, you mean like the cheap apps they sell? Printer support is offered for wireless printers. Weight is only up a few grams, considering the screen is 3 times as clear, the battery is 70% more efficient and the camera is more powerful that not too bad.

Worth upgrading from a 2? If you live in America, more so than here yes. If you spent £500 on something you leave to gather dust and dont use, probably not best to upgrade, fool you once shame on them, the next part im sure you know

Nothing you listed is worth them doing, and hardly new. lol nightvision

nothing I mentioned is worth doing?? yet like you said google do one with those fucntions anyway

for what its worth all those suggestions were my own improvements I would suggest. Ask anyone who has one if they have any problem with the screen? battery life? processor?? not many, but then you wouldnt know anyway (wannabe) fanboy.

Ask them if its too heavy? or lacking a light when you use it in a car? or if you want to show someone something in low light? try altering an office document?? Print??You cant do any of that stuff.

As for your suggestion that making these changes would not be  good proposition (who do you think sells more cases? apple or the 300 other manufacturers that sell the same product but for cheaper?). I have a good idea.... why dont they charge people for them??? ohh yes what a great idea!! the simple fact is julie, the come out with stuff for the sake of coming out with stuff (sounds a bit like you tbh).

I dont blame them (just like I dont blame you for the jibberish you speak) but it doesnt mean we all have to jump on the bandwagon. Some of us just like to tell it like it is

like I said previously I let my nephew use it when he comes round... so although it gathers dust it does get some use. Unlike that lonely braincell of yours

The wife has an ipad and she can print using the air print facility found in ios5.

In terms of editing office documents, I believe there's an app for that:

http://gigaom.com/apple/ipad-reportedly-getting-microsoft-office-in-2012-do-we-need-it/
http://myappworld.com/best-ipad-for-editing-microsoft-office-documents-documents-to-go-premium/headline/

In terms of using the ipad in low light environments, I'm not quite clear on what your point was, but it does have a brightness control where you can turn up/down the brightness of the screen.

If you want to disable the screen just press the power button at the top and it switches off the screen and locks the ipad at the same time.

I agree with you on the bezel as it is rather thick and can distract you from the movie you are watching because of the all the reflections from the super shiny surface. I would like to see a matt version like you get on laptop screens (or used to).

Weight can be an issue when using the ipad in bed.

The memory card slot and usb slot (to add additional stoarge) would be a great boon. The Hyperdrive is a bit clunky (http://www.macworld.com/article/153935/2010/09/hyperdrive.html)
