If you just web browse, watch films then probably not worth an upgrade to be honest, you might as well have an iPad1 if thats the case

Never had a an ipad 1 so didn't upgrade specially to a 2 just what i started with, plus an ipad 1 one would be useless to me as it can't mirror which i use for viewing iplayer etc on my atv

Ah yea, forget that.

I doubt the 3 will be a worthy upgrade. Will let you know when I have had a play

all for the bargain price of £500!

For the price of a phone, you have a portable laptop rival with 10 hours battery life and thousands of apps.

Not that expensive really.

No one really pays full price for a phone.. the point is if you have something that already serves this purpose... then do you really need one??

As established earlier... its not really a rival for a laptop.

I dont think so. It a gizmo for filling the gaps you have, of which I have none at the moment.  :undecided:

A bus serves the purpose of a car, do you really need a car?

It just doesnt suit your needs. The millions of sales suggest tablets suit others needs.

Not sure who you know but to buy something like an iPhone new will cost you full price, its not like they will have trouble selling them.

Scenario

You are going off for a few days, taking the train/plane or whatever. You take your laptop for some films and web browsing. Unless you have a dongle, it wont have 3G to connect to the net. Unless you have a plug its going to be dead in a few hours, unless you have a specific bag you will struggle to carry it with your other luggage.

I take my 3G iPad, do some browsing, have about 10 hours of use, put it in my bag along with what ever else due to its slimness it takes up no room.

Another one

You need to check the internet for some information, maybe some news. You turn your laptop on, wait for it to boot, wait for the browser to open up then search for what you wanted.

iPad - press home, unlock, safari, search.

There are lots of other scenarios.

Do you need an iPad, no. You most likely have something that does what it does. Doesnt mean its not nice to have one though, nor will it not fill any needs.

Ask anyone that hasnt had one

''doubt i would use it, cant see the point''

Ask anyone that has one

''dont know how i lived without it''

ermmmmm....... I have one

like i said, it just a device for filling spare time as you have correctly given examples to prove my point. thanks

I purchased mine approx week before xmas... it does nothing special. In fact I just spent over £1k on a new laptop, that should tell you what I think of the ipad. Its great for kids/oldies and people with too much time on their hands.

My sister and mother are with you  My sister is selling her ipad2 (or trying too) and my mother's tablet doesn't get used until we take the kids to see her

Exactly Jay!

Im all for buying quality stuff... but the ipad is ok for what it is, and thats it. Never again will i fall to the apple hype crap!!

once you buy one of their items it just means you need another to make it complete. Well im bucking the trend of sticking up for them, and will be telling it how it is. most feel they have to justify the money they have spent to say its sooo much better than the last version.

bit like buying an audi when well all know its golf rival is better...
