Hi there all,

I've been in the states for 2 years and have just come back, started work and had little money to buy a car.  Trying to keep this short, I travelled North to view a MK1 GTI 8v (1982) loved it, purchased it and 400 or so miles / 8 days later the car decides to die on me on a three lane major traffic light roundabout.  My worst nightmare happened today.  Anyway, nice policemen pushed my car off the road and I promptly got recovery to take me back home.  I don't want to get angry with my new car, but what could be wrong?  It tries to start/turns over but wont ignite.  Its as though there is no fuel in the tank.  Immobilizer is all fine.  Could be just a lead come loose someone suggested or a faulty plug, now I cant open the bonnet to see.
Still remaining as calm as I can be without 100 proof liquor.

My question is: Does anyone know any decent mechanics located in the Camberley area.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated & thanks for your time in reading this.

Victoria

That wouldn't be the meadows roundabout would it  nightmare if it was..........as you say

Thank God it wasnt the Meadows R'bout, it was Basingstoke Centre so only a notch below in my opinion.  I'll keep you posted if I cannot manage to get it fixed by when you return on Weds.  I am actually in Sandhurst, so thats probably even better for you distance wise.

Cheers for the quick reply richandhazel.

Victoria.

Yeah, Sandhurst is even closer, just a couple of miles. Text or call me on 07957 442131 if you're still stuck on Wednesday. Otherwise I'll look out for your mk1............You'll more often than not find me down the Dog & Partridge pub in Yateley

As keefusgti says, check the fuel relay switch as I've had problems with mine too.  :undecided:

Rich ! You need to think about what's happening Wednesday before you do your knight in shining armour bit, there may be females in need here but there's a champions league final to think about !

Total thumbs up to Alex (Redbaron), within 24 hours of posting my woes, Alex came to my rescue and fixed the car.  It turned out to be a blown fuse for the fuel pump I think he said.
Many thanks for your help Alex, much appreciated

Victoria.

PS: RichandHazel, I am all fixed up now and back on the road.  However I want to thank you for your kind offer to come round and rectify the problem.  I'll keep your number though - The car is as old as me, I have problems too  so should any more arise with the VW I'll be texting you or Alex for your expert help again - so long as thats alright with you?

Thanks to all those who responded.  Happy girl now!
