After a lot of debate I have had the above unit fitted to my Mark V GTI which I have owned from new and is now 4 years old. I had an RCD310 fitted before with IPOD prep and had considered an RNS510 but ruled it out on cost and the ability to upgrade it.

Positives:

First off it sounds a lot smoother than the previous unit. Upgrading the firware audio only garmin was upto date and uploading a speed camera database was easy. I did not have to upgrade the BT firmware as my Blackberry Torch works fine out of the box.

Oh did I forget to say the screen is big, very big in Navigation mode.

Setup was easy both radio and navigation and I have loaded all my favourite destinations. Registered for Traffic updates was fine.

Now what really surprised me was how good playing audio from USB is. I just simply robocopied my entire music collection (Trimmed a bit) minus any pdf's and itlp's and other rubbish onto a Lacie Thumb nail device I bought from Amazon, 16GB's of storage. These were native itunes files in folders and showed up on the device with all the relavant album title and track information with the cover art superb! I have an IPOD lead on back order and I am debating whether I will need this at all.

Negatives:

Yes it does take a whole to boot up and you can only seem to put it in standby mode not off.

When you enter the traffic map mode on the garmin you loose the speeds cameras, switching back returns to BAU.

Very pleased with the purchase and wished I had done so earlier.
