Got a long drive to Llanberis on Monday afternoon for work, which is the best way to go avoiding traffic, slow roads and the Camera wielding Heddlu?
Last time the Sat nav took me round the world stuck behind a lorry in a fecking valley for 60 years....

Llanberis is kind of in my neck of the woods (in my company service area anyway) its in the hills so probably best to follow the sat nav!

m6

m54

a5 - enjoy the sites

Left onto the A4086, for a few miles,  turning right keeping on the 4086 over the top and down into LLanberis passing the Snowdon mountain railway on your left hand side

when you get to the reservoir on the RHS my mates house is set back up the hill a bit on the left.

Like Chuff says, M54 to Shrewsbury, then straight up the A5, past Betws-y-Coed. There are sections when you'll just have to follow the lorries, but it'll be like that which ever way you go through Welsh Wales. Just enjoy the views, you'll get there in the end.

If you want to drive faster, you could head on up to Wrexham and onto Chester, follow the A55 across the top of Wales, the drop down into Llanberis, but that is miles out of your way and would probably take longer.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

and not that its much help, but that road from the A5 onwards is IMMENSE on a bike, even when pouring down and 40 mph side winds

What they all said!

M6 to Junction 10 (Or 10a whichever it is) then M54 following signs for Telford.

Then keep following signs for Oswestry until you get to Oswesrty then follow A5 signs for Llangollen which then become A5 signs for Betws-y-Coed..... then pick up signs the other side of Betws at Capel Curig for Llanberis!
