Thought I'd update this. Spoke to VOSA, they said its the garages responsibility to sort it out. Rung ATS and eventually they agreed to re-mot the car free of charge.

She's now back from the garage with a new correct MOT

The child seat one is laughable.  They could have just asked me to remove it so that they could test the seatbelt.

True but i think you will find thats how its done if they can't check it gets advised.

same as if the rear number plate is too dirty,

Hardly the same thing 
A dirty number plate has always been a fail, and why should the tester clean it.
Any sensible tester would of told the chap that the air freshener had to come down or it would fail, NOT just issue a fail notice

On another note, here are the advisories I got at my last MOT with the wrong mileage on.

Parking brake lever has little reserve travel (3.1.6b)
Nearside Rear Tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)
Offside Rear Tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.E.1)
Child seat fitted not allowing full inspection of adult belt
Ofside rear tyre has nail very colse to side wall
Vehicle is lowered

Nearside inner (rack end) Ball joint has slight play
Offside inner front constant velocity joint gater damaged, but preventing the ingress of dirt

Seriously, WTF?!  How can the old advisories disappear and two new ones pop up within a month?!

I wasn't the one that took it to the garage, got my girlfriend to drop it off and pick it up.

Not a bad thing, the advisories on the MOT this time around are very minor.  Neither really need doing any time soon.
