Newbie here!
« on: 16 February 2012, 17:52 »
Hi guys.

So i'm Ben as you can read, just turned 18 on 1st Feb and currently drive a mk5 tdi se, but due to some new opportunities arising, I am now looking at upgrading to a GTi!
The current Golf has all the GTi parts (except the engine) all the way down to the seats. Another reason why my insurance is a bomb!

My dream would be a Mk5 GTi in good condition, i'm fancying a DSG, below 60k miles and pretty stock (I like my own projects) and also before you question it, my insurance is cheaper on a GTi than it is now, so it gets better the more I look into it!

What are the favoured mods etc for the GTi? And what to look for, having a Golf I get the key things, but anything specific to the GTi?

Cheers!

Yh one of my mates was paying 3k for a 1.4 civic at 17.......  And wrote it off 2 months later.

Saying that tho I'm 20, no no claims bonus, had a claim last year (I didnt claim head on on ice, other driver claimed) and juste bort a mk3 gti 16v, thort insurance would be mental but it was only £1400 ( was £1100 for a mk3 1.6)

The quote is 1850 for a year, with Aviva! It's the exact same as that for a Zetec S or many other things, really don't know why but 1 years ncb and remaining customer, they seem keen. Not having a dig guys but, age doesn't mean i'm going to drive around at 100+mph everywhere and write it off. Low and slow is normally the game I play! Looks better when its intact
