it is odd, was it dropped or hit at all? they are very sensitive.   Could just be a fautly one, you never know.   Does it say its the sensor open/short to ground?  I know vag-com shows "mechanical failure" which is when the pulse ring is damaged/bent sort of thing. What diagnostics are you using, as it could be finding a general fault, but not telling you exactly what the fault is?  Just a thought.

you can test the resistance in the sensors fairly easy, that will count them off at least. vag-com etc is good but not perfect!

(there's a thread in the mk3 maintained section showing how to)

Solution one: drive over speed bumps and brake quickly once over. This somehow helps.

Two-drive in the rain, and brake suddenly.

Three-blow air on the sensors

Four-just pray and tell the car you will scrapnor sell to someone.

Five-repalce abs unit and sensors

Six-disable abs systen.

Mines been through two mot's & never once has it even ever been mentioned....

both in different testing stations, & my brother's A3 is the same, for the last three years...
I just make sure the light doesnt come on at all,

(I'd just like to add that I'm not one of these that would sell it on without informing the potential buyer)

I know there where some testing ammendments that came into effect in febuary regarding saftey feature lights, but mine went through after those so assumed not much had changed i.e if it didnt light up it werent tested

This, MOT regulations have changed. As of 01/01/12 it will appear as an advisory if it does not light up, as of 01/04/12 it will be reason to fail.

That is correct always has been plus with the abs disabled it will make the rear end very tail happy when braking as the load sense valve as such is built into the pump and not on the rear beam as non abs cars are replace the sensors and you should be ok if not pumps are easy to get hold of plenty being broken on here :)
