Thanks for all your replies.

so im looking at between 5/10% discount? even with it being a second purchase? i would expect 5/10% discount anyway, so VW wont offer more for this reason?

The dealer more keen for my sale offered me £1800 discount but he is also looking me to pay a £1250 deposit. Might ask him to forget the deposit and he will
have the sale, sounds fair enough right? Just over £3000 discount, no harm in asking lol

I got just under 10%.  I took the internet prices like motorpoints, etc.  The trouble with some Internet companies they don't have the allocation of cars so you will end up waiting years.  Also with the MK7 on the horizon you can ask for a bit more!

Here is the motorpoint web site to compare prices.  They don't have new 140gt in stock but they did have in the past as I bought one for a family member.  However, they do have nearly new at good discounts:-

What does the "target price" suggest for the GTI in What Car? They are normally realistic....

If you are considering a Match or a GT, surely the best form discount would be to buy a used one.

I had a Match 1.6 TDI BMT as a courtesy car a few weeks ago while my Passat was having some warranty paintwork. It was 4 months old, done 2.5k miles and was for sale on the dealers website for £17,495. Going on the amount of discount I got when I bought my GT TDI, I reckon just over £16,500 would buy it. Considering the list price of that car is £20,775, you have to question that unless you want specific options, why buy new?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

As Nutkins said above, Autoebid is well worth a check as a starting point

There looks to be a good saving at the moment (if this is the right model ?)
