Oil workshop manual

Hi my 2001 Gt-tdi 115bhp has recently started giving me the following message" oil workshop manual" this flashes for around 5 seconds then it disappears.It didnt do it that often but its started doing on every start up now where before it was more random.Ive just recently had a oil change so levels are fine the car does not play up etc its running fine.I did manage to take it to my friend who works for a VW main dealer,so he plugged it in on the laptop to see if it bought up any faults which it didnt.Ive had a search on the net but not really to much info on it so im guessing the oil sensor is faulty maybe ?if so which one as ive been told theres 2 on my car?Anyone had simlar problem any info would be great thanks.

Is it a yellow symbol which appears with the message?

If so its the sensor in the sump 

If it's red it relates to the oil pressure sensor and you need to get that sorted ASAP

hi guys i have got the same problem with my golf.the warning only appears on start up

could the wrong grade oil cause this problem ?

Yeah mines the little yellow oil can type symbol then the message flashes up ill price a sensor up tomorrow just had a oil change aswell thanks for the reply.

Just incase anyone else has a simlar problem had the sensor changed at the bottom of the sump and the cars sweet now even though im selling it..
