What a super forum!
We have just bought our first GTi (after wanting one since 1982, when we bought our first 1100 Golf). We think we've done OK. She is called Gertie and she is a 1995 Mark 3 8v. She's immaculate, with 80000 miles, two careful owners and a full service history. The present owner cried when we said we wanted to buy her, because she is so attached to her. But her husband has a new company car, and Gertie has to go. We reassured her that Gertie would be fine on our drive with Miss Piggy, our T25 Westie camper, to keep her company. We can't wait to pick Gertie up next week.
but I think we may shed a tear too when we pass on our 1991 Polo to our niece
Gertie will be our 7th VW, following on from a Golf 1100, a Golf 1300, a Jetta Diesel, a Passat turbo diesel (in which we did 250,000 miles!), a Polo 1050 and Miss Piggy.
We're looking forward to getting to know lots of you good folks soon, but hopefully not because we have loads of problemsÂÂÂ
We may just ask for help with sourcing a few flash bits for her, but let's wait until we bring her home first.
