Starting Problem

Can anyone help? if i leave the car and its cold it turns over fine but if i drive it for 5min trun it of, it wont start up again for about 5min. Does anyone know what could be wrong

its a 2.0 16v abf engine in my mk2 golf gti. When driving its fine power is there.. just wont turn over

1. When you say run it for 5 mins, do you mean until its hot?
2. And when its hot, does it run normally, or misfire? if it misfires, maybe a cracked dizzy and is only affected under heat
3. When you go to start it again after 5 mins, is the fuel pump priming or not? could be an accumulator fault
4. Is the starter actually turning but its not firing, or is it not even turning over?

No you can take it 500 meters down th road or driving it for 30 min once you turn it of it just wont turn over straight way.
it does misfire but put that down to the new power flow exhaust, maybe not then.
sorry dont know what fuel pump priming is.
Its turning just not sparking, then the battery starts to die.

Well if it's not hot, that rules out the hall sender idea.

I'd be inclined to say fuel pump or accumulator, but if you don't know what priming is you're not going to be able to fix it

He says it happens after driving 500m - so it can't be heat related.

glove it will happen if hot or cold.

Ben is refering to a Fuel issues, possible fuel starvation via pump or relay?
