To be fair what DH has said is what you should do.

I have paid for things via bank transfer to members of the forum. There are many people on here you can trust.

I put £280 into someones bank account via bank transfer :lipsrsealed:  in fairness though i have met this person face to face before and purchased stuff from them in the past.

So there are people that can be trusted.

People that i have dealt with and would deal with in the future are coincidentally the ones with higher post count.

Would hardly put it down to coincidence.... It means they're established on here.  The same thing for ebay, You're more likely to run into trouble with a buyer or seller who has a feedback score of 1 over someone who has 100.

someone didnt pay by gifting paypal or bank transfer did they,

to a stranger

from internet land

So how do you expect anyone to purchase from a site like this without sending money in advance by some means?  You could send a cheque, but guess what, once it's cashed your in the same position as before.  I certainly cannot accept visa payments so that's out so you are left with cash on delivery, but then how many people think that DHL will accept cash from the doorstep and send it back to the consignee?  You could ask for the goods to be delivered free of charge and then I'll pay later but that's just the same thing but the other way round.  At some point, if you are going to purchase from a site like this, you have to be separated from your cash before receiving goods.  There is no other way of doing it, it is simply a question of trust.  And I have bought quite a bit of stuff from the classifieds on here and, with this one exception, have been very satisfied.  You can protect yourself by doing a few checks, which I detailed earlier, but there is no certainty in this world.

What your post effectively says is don’t buy anything from anyone on the internet who cannot accept visa or you might be scammed.  If you really live life with that little risk you must be very bored.

On a side note I have not seen anyone dripping about how awful it is to be scammed, just asking if anyone has contact details so that they can try to get either the goods they have paid for or their money back.  We all accept that we have been scammed, that’s part of the risk you run when using the classifieds and not going direct to VW, we are just trying to find a route back.  If one is not available then we will have to write it off.

No, what I am saying is pay it thru PayPal for goods and just bite the bullet and pay the extra fee

Thus getting protection.

It's that simple yet people still go down the gift payment route to save a few quid then b!tch like a mofo when they get fleeced.

Simple really, just like me

Quite the opposite - I first met DannyP and Chuff through trading.  Just as well, as the seats I thought would fit in Chuff's Golf, didn't.  He didn't buy them, wasn't disappointed and became someone who I now know as a mate -
