Does anyone know if the hill assist feature can be retro-fitted

Sorry pal, not sure although it may be wise not spending too much ca$h on this if it is available aftermarket, it only holds for a couple of seconds anyway.
I have never really used/relied on mine

Are you after Hill Hold not Hill Assist?

I'd pay (well a little bit anyway!) NOT to have it 

I prefer to do it myself with the handbrake and/or left foot braking

Yes it's hill hold I'm after, is it possible as a retro fit?

I've always found the handbrake perfectly functional in the past...and see no need for an unreliable piece of electronics to replace a mechanical cable, so I shall continue using the handbrake as long as one is fitted.

Well if you have read my thread link you would have seen Yes, you can add Hill Hold Contol to 2010 MTs, do you have access to VCDS?

Hill hold is a great feature on DSG but not essential as I used to use the hand brake on my ED30 with DSG, however I can't see this being required on a manual.
