newbie with a mfd prob

hey everyone,  i was changing my maf this afternoon and disconnected the battery while doing it in the hope once fitted my eml would go off, (which it did) but now since disconnecting the battery my mfd on my instrument cluster is now all lit up red and i cant read anything!!!!  it was totally fine literally 10 mins before i took the battery off?!?!?!  any ideas would be much appreciated!
2000 indigo blue golf gti AUM, full oe r32 kit, xenon headlights, r32 wheels, r32 interior trims,steering wheel,pedals and foot rest, h&r springs, r32 milltek cat-back, stage 1 remap, forge diverter valve.

you might need to re enter the code.

i belive that some vw standard headunits put the code in them selfs after about 3 or 4 mins of the ignition being turned on, but cant say for sure.
