interior light swith!!!

Hi peeps, the interior light switch has gone and im told that its the locking mechanism that needs changing! could you please let me know exactly what bit! I was on my way to getting the barrel changed when i was told it was something else! p.s. if you know how much and where from too.

The interior light switch is built into the actual lock mechanism not the lock barrel. I only know this because i'm having problems with it myself, read here if interested:

The lock mechanism is the part located further down the door (the bit you can see on the side of the door when it's open). I would suggest you invest in a haynes manual as you will have to replace the whole mechanism and although it doesn't look that difficult it's not totally straight forward.

Also i would suggest (unfortunately) you get one from the dealership as loads of peole seem to have had problems with this particular part (see my post above) and getting one second hand may not be wise! I don't know how much they cost because for some reason mine has started working again but if you find out, let me know cause no doubt it will screw up again sometime soon!
