interview techniques
« on: 08 February 2012, 17:46 »
not had an interview for about a year since I went to college, I've applied for an apprenticeship this morning when the closing date ended last week, I had a telephone interview today then told later on today that I have an interview tomorrow morning, the apprenticeship is Body Repair Technician, it is for Ford/DAF, just looking for some good information on how to appear, what to say and what not to say, and also questions to ask when questioned..
any advice would be greatly appreciated!

cheers, the company seems like it has good prospects and seems a good career in itself, wage is around £100 a week but will eventually go up when I'm trained if I'm the successful applicant

as said have a look through chuffs thread luke

as for what to wear, suit, always suit no matter what job it is, thats the first time they see you and youde make a better impression being dressed smartly rather than like a scruff and it also shows you want to make an effort to get the job.

as for things to say, dont bullsh!t them if you dont know something just come out and say sorry but you dont know, if you dont understand something ask, just remember that an interveiw is them trying to get to know you and know what your like, dont go in there thinking its going to be 100 questoins and a set answer for every one, be confident but not over confident, be polite, dont mumble all the usual crap.

do your reaserch on the company/trade.

try and fit examples into answers, no matter what it is, even if its something along the lines of are you good at working in a team use your past experience at that factory, or even if you used to play sport how that helped you, if they ask about leadership/working on your own try use examples of when you took charge in your last job, how you had to meet deadlines and got on with the job helping others and guiding them using your initiative and leadership skills, ect.ect.ect.

I had to make a quick trip to asda for a shirt, trousers and a tie, I don't have a suit as I've lost it somehow, only thing I'm struggling with is that I don't know what questions to ask, spent an hour thinking about it with the website sat infont of me
