aerial
« on: 07 February 2012, 12:39 »
Hi, always had a poor aerial signal for my stereo, took out stereo to have a look.. the aerial lead is connected to stereo via short extension/tube type thing about 3 inches long, that connects to the stereo and the other end connects to the aerial lead. There is also a wire coming off the body of it, which isn't connected to anything?? Should this be connected to a live or earth, any ideas?

Cheers

I think what you are describing is an aerial amplier/booster. Is the wire blue by any chance?

Post a pic up so we can confirm this, but if it is a booster, you connect the wire to the signal wire on the stereo (also blue usually). But as I said, a pic should help confirm this.

I've just bought one of the items, your right blue wire to blue on radio. It's a booster.

make sure it goes to a good source thats capable of the extra current though, I connected my dab radio live feed to the ignition live wire from the back of the radio and ended up melting a large percentage of my radio and dash loom  :embarassed:

20vt conversion, sig pic coming soon!
