first of all hi , im new here and hope i can find some help before spending money to garages !!
i brought a black vw golf last sunday on a w reg and love it , i have a silver gti turbo but needed a run about for work so i dont ruin my silver one and mangaed to buy the new black 2.0 gti 8v for 600 with tax and test and not a single mark inside or out ,
so my problem with the 2.0 gti is the heating , i brought it and test drove it and was faultless untill 30 mins down the motorway i found out the heating dont work !!!! the motor is spinning and after looking about when i got it home i noticed the top and bottom hoses on the rad are both nice and hot , but the 2 hoses going into the bulk head aint , left hose is hot but left is just about luke warm , further down the pipe about 4" it gets as hot as the others ,, now i did a thermastate change and no joy !!!
but then after leaving it running i noticed a sprinkle of water was squirting out from what seemed behind the head (above the manifold) in line with the hose going into the matrix !!!! worst fear is cracked head but after letting it squirt out for 5 mins to try and take pics with phone to actually see where it was coming from it stopped !!! topped up with water and now wont do it and still no heating ,,,
been told could be water pump but water is getting pumped around the engine !
also what is the foam around the door thing , read about it but never had to work on my golf as they been so reliable (was a ford man until 4 years ago lol) where is these doors located ?
or is it a buggered matrix heater , either one im looking at big bucks but was thinking could i have a blockage some where or has some one experianced this problem there selfs !!!
ah one other thing i snapped the orange dip stick tube today ,, goes toget but little hole there now ....... drivable ??
thanks guys and girls steve
